Prez Sez - October 2023

As I sit here in my room at the Little Bluff Inn during our Fall Color Ride, after a great breakfast and spending time at the Galesville Applefest with its famous ten-foot apple pie (which I must say was pretty good), I am thinking about how quickly this day transpired, and as well as this riding season. It seems like just a couple of weekends ago we were signing up for the mileage contest. While the MOA contest is a year around event, Dan Elasky and Steve Handeland have graciously volunteered to continue our annual summer mileage contest. Be on the lookout in the next day or so for more information regarding the contest ending meet up.

Our October membership meeting was just held at Richfield BMW. Our meeting agenda was to reintroduce the membership to the current staff at Richfield. Thank you to those who contributed questions for Rob Harrington, General Manager. And thanks to BMW Motorcycles of Richfield for a great meeting location, program, and pizza.

It is that time again when we seek nominations for the club board and those annually elected officers. So, if you want to name someone to serve on the board, or you personally want to serve in one of the elected positions, we welcome your nominations. Just a reminder that if you wish to run for president or vice president you do have to find a running mate and run as a team. Greg Fetter sent an email on 10/5 and then again on 10/15 with a link to survey where you can nominate your choices. Nominations must be made on or before October 19, 2023.

I am currently finishing this at work before starting my workday. My return trip from the Fall Color Ride was good. The sun came out (even though it didn’t warm up). I had no further roadside discussions with any members of Wisconsin, or Minnesota law enforcement.

I want to take just one more minute of your time and say that I am speaking for myself but that I believe I can say with all confidence that I speak for the rest of the board. We want to hear from you! If you are in any need of assistance, please reach out to me or any member of the board (motorcycle related or not). I’m not always able to take your call, or speak to you, especially during work hours, but I highly encourage you to leave me a voice mail, and I will return your call as soon as possible.

Finally, many thanks to Julie and Chuck Bushnell, Ruth Guertin, and Robin Hyde who put together the Fall Color Ride.

It is hard to believe it is the middle of October and that we will soon be putting our riding machines back into hibernation, but it is the inevitable reality. Let’s hope we have a longer than normal riding season.
