Hello everyone, I hope you had an enjoyable holiday season. Our club has been busy and I wanted to let you know about our latest news.
Club Website
Thanks to Thomas Rieck for his overhaul of the club website! I hope you like the new-and-improved format.
Board Election
Congratulations to
Dan Elasky and
Thomas Rieck, who were elected to a two-year term as at-large board members. Dan is new to the board, while Thomas was reelected to serve his second term.
Dan replaces
Paul Phillips, who opted not to run for reelection. I want to extend a huge thank you to Paul for all of his service to the club, including two terms on our board, coordinating ZARS events, and providing technology support for our online and hybrid meetings.
January Club Meeting
Our next club meeting is Thursday January 11 at a new venue:
Bear Cave Brewingin Hopkins:
1201 Main Street
Hopkins, MN 55343
Dedicated members of our club have formed a search committee to find an alternate location for our second-Thursday-of-the-month meetings. Thanks to
Beth,
Curt Henry, and
Greg Fetter for researching and proposing the Bear Cave as one replacement for Rosetown American Legion. Come to the meeting and let us know what you think of the Bear Cave!
Annual Banquet
Our annual club banquet is Saturday February 10. You should have received an email last night from Vice President Beth Forristall, inviting you to sign up for the banquet. Here is a link to the banquet page on our club website:
Annual Club Banquet
At the banquet, we will be showing off the beautiful quilts that
Penny Maki created for us. We are still ironing out the details about how our non-profit club can hold a raffle to award the quilts and raise money for our club. Stay tuned for more information about how we will run the raffle.
Hiawatha Rally
Registration will open this week for our 47th annual rally, which is May 31 to June 2. You will be able to preregister (and save $10!) at the rally page on our club website:
You can also sign up for volunteer slots. In 2023, we had trouble filling many of our rally volunteer positions, so we all need to do a better job this year of contributing to the success of the rally.
Again, Happy 2024 and I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.
Thanks,
Tim Schwartz
Club President
