Prez Sez – October 2022
Another month in the books. As I sit here watching the frozen water (I refuse to type the word) come down this morning I am again reminded just how quickly the time passes. I also begin to think about all the tasks that become more urgent as we move towards the time we have to put our machines away. I am beginning to understand why my predecessors may have struggled to get these thoughts out more frequently.
The 2022 BMW MOA Summer Mileage Contest is finishing up on Oct. 31 and we will have a club mileage ending sign off on Oct. 30 at Ox Yoke Inn in Maple Plain. Please see the email our mileage coordinators Dan Elasky and Steve Handeland sent on Oct. 12 and please attend. Get your mileage submitted even if it is just the two trips to the signing events you rode this year. Let’s beat Wisconsin!
Also this month we have election nominations due Oct. 15th so let your voice be known. This is your club. This is your time to select the people you want to move the club in whatever direction you want. Actual elections will be conducted via the website in November.
Looking ahead, the November meeting presenters will be club member Curt Henry, and Francisco Mendoza of Bike Adventure talking about riding tours south of the border. So come check it out. Maybe you can lessen the PMS (parked motorcycle syndrome) symptoms this year by booking a trip.
Our December meeting will be a Toys For Tots drive and taco buffet. Typically this meeting does not have a speaker but I am looking at bringing in Paul Kunde the manager of the new Cycle Gear in Woodbury, MN to have him introduce himself, do a little gift-guide presentation, and perhaps give away a doorprize or two.
As I continue to watch the frozen water drop from the sky, I will wrap this up by sincerely hoping that this goes away quickly and that we are able to enjoy a few more weeks of riding before having to put away our machines. Hopefully you have all your winter storage arrangements made (personally I’m going to ask Handeland if I can store mine at his new underground storage facility. JK) Anyways -- here’s to more riding this year!
